Christmas Party Dresses
This year look stunning throughout the festive season, and pick a Christmas outfit that represents your own
style and personality. Feel confident and party ready by having a couple of fantastic Christmas party dresses
waiting in your closet.
Whatever party occasion you are headed to, whether it's a family gathering or a company Christmas party, there
are many options for you to look trendy and stylish this holiday season.
Office Christmas Party Dresses
To a company Christmas ball, choose a long gown with a flowing fabric like chiffon to smooth over your curves
and accentuate your shape. Opt for a colour that really pops, that is a bit unusual and tells of your
own personal style. Keep it simple, and think elegant. Look to British royalty and the red carpet for inspiration,
realising that shoes, hair and makeup are almost as important as the dress you choose.
For a slightly more informal office or work occasion, choose a simple day dress and add a little bling by
layering on jewelry and high heels and slicking on a bit of lipstick. You'll want to look more special than regular
everyday wear, but not so informal that you lose your sense of what's appropriate in a work environment. So no tiny
skirts, nothing see-through and remember the rule of wearing short skirts or low necklines, never both at
the same time. Your LBD might be a good idea to wear, but make sure to add some colour or texturing, as it's quite
likely that lots of other women will be wearing the same colour.
Family Holiday Gathering
Different families have different traditions, but it's always nice to dress up a little at Christmas time to
mark the occasion. Smart dresses are just perfect, so long as they are very comfortable to wear, as Christmas
usually is quite active for many families (cooking, walking, playing games).
Find a nice jacket to throw over the top, faux fur is an elegant option, or a black blazer is a timeless trend.
Pop on some fluffy slippers when your indoors, and when you go out and about choose some sensible but pretty
ballerinas or kitten heels. Tartan and velvet is a very traditional combination, but hard to pull off if you are
older then ten years of age!
Christmas Cocktails with Friends
Classics with a twist are perfect for cocktails. A little bit of diamante sparkle is definitely appropriate, as
is any red dress. Jazz up any dress with a red floral corsage or handmade white star. You don't want to look overly
Christmassy when you're just headed out for drinks, but a nod to the occasion is a gentle reminder of the
season.
For a little twist on a classic dress, try a faux fur collar, cashmere sweater, black tights, cream boots, a
white blouse, fairisle knit cardigan or red shoes. And if all else fails, a well fitted red wool coat is a great
way to look a tad special / a tiny bit like one of Santa's helpers!
